Fox Valley Sports Academy

Fox Valley Sports Academy, which opened December 3,1999 is located on the northeast side of Elgin, IL approximately thirty-five (35) minutes west of Chicago. Inside the 20,000 square foot facility are six (6) automated batting cages (baseball & softball), six (6) academy training tunnels, top-of-the-line equipment pro-shop, a meeting room as well as a spacious lobby complete with satellite television and vending area. Each area listed has both heat and air-conditioning capabilities for maximum comfort.

Batting Cages:

The batting cage area is typically always open for public use*. Six (6) automated cages, capable of throwing either baseball or softball at varying speeds (beginner to professional) are covered by a ‘canopy’ net system. The cage area is built on an elevated deck with each ‘batters box’ or hitting area covered by the most durable turf on the market.

The environment at Fox Valley Sports Academy replicates game time conditions.. The interior lighting in the batting cage and academy-training areas are unparalleled. Over 120 gymnasium-style lights are mounted on the ceiling, providing better than daytime illumination.

The ATEC machines used at Fox Valley Sports Academy throw white ‘sting-free’ baseballs and softballs. The composition of the cage ball itself is ‘bat-friendly’ or less likely to damage or reduce the performance of today’s high performance baseball and softball bats.

*Though Fox Valley Sports Academy does not rent the batting cage area, there are times when hitting league programs (usually on Sunday afternoons & evenings during the winter) use the entire cage area. Also, special All-U-Can-Hit times take place during the week where guests can pay a flat rate ($8) in lieu of purchasing tokens.

Academy Area:

The academy area or ‘training tunnels’ use approximately one-third of the total floor space of the building. There are six (6) separate netted training areas, each of which can be equipped with the following: L-Screen, mound, baseball or softball machine, durable batting tees, cage balls, or regulation baseballs or softballs.
Each netted tunnel can be moved away in order to convert or dedicate additional floor space for camps, clinics, tradeshows and speaking events..
